So, you can artificially "bubble" some other event to the form. Well, there could be tricks to detect clicks anywhere (transparent window, system hook.) but you really don't want to go that road if you don't have to as your application could then have a major impact on the stability of the system. ![]() Why would you keep the border if another Windows is activated using the keyboard and then the mouse is not used in that application? It would not be intuitive to your user that cliking on another application to activate it would remove the norder while using the keyboard would not. In practice, however detecting focus/activation change should be more than enough. ![]() Well, I think that you can detect click inside your application if the application grab mouse capture and you indirectly detect a click outside the application as it become inactive when another application is activated (but you won't reliably know for sure that it was a click (and not Alt+Tab for example). You cannot directly detect a click outside the control since event are always directed toward the control that was clicked. Our team was pleasantly surprised to learn how extensive the design firm’s baseline data collection was, covering aspects such as user perception, impervious surfaces, and property values. The P Street project was also unique in the amount of recorded baseline data. This gave us the opportunity to understand the working relationship between a remote design firm and a local firm, revealing the trade-offs that come with this approach. P Street’s redesign was undertaken by a remote design firm and then passed to a local Lincoln firm for construction administration. ![]() However, much of what we learned about the P Street project was beyond what we had experienced on site. ![]() With P Street located adjacent to the university, our research team was already familiar with the site, having visited and passed through on countless occasions. Tom Hanafan focuses on opportunities to preserve and restore riparian forest in a floodplain to withstand an immense, 500-year storm event.Īlthough we’ve observed many commonalities between these two projects, each has numerous unique aspects of its own. P Street focuses on runoff capture and reduced irrigation cost for roadside bioswales. Along with public access, stormwater management strategies are essential aspects of both projects. Both are public projects in urban settings with primary goals of transforming formerly unpleasant, underused spaces to grant increased public access. With both sites located in the Great Plains, participating in the Case Study Investigation program has given us the opportunity to provide recognition and visibility to innovative constructed projects in a region that typically goes unrecognized. Over the course of our study, we’ve discovered many commonalities between the P Street Corridor and Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park. Working on the post-occupancy study of both parks has been extremely beneficial in understanding how reclaiming underutilized sites can create high-performing landscapes. ![]() We are eager to shine a spotlight on the landscape performance of two Great Plains projects: P Street Corridor by Design Workshop, a revitalized downtown streetscape in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park by Sasaki, a waterfront redevelopment in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We have just completed our second year as undergraduates in the landscape architecture program and are excited to continue learning about landscape performance as Research Assistants under the guidance of Research Fellow Assistant Professor Catherine De Almeida. I like to imagine I put the cat inside of one-piece pajamas - tight around the specific parts of the body, but loose in between. This is because cats have a very loose skin that covers the outlines of the muscles even in hairless breeds. In cats it’s very flexible, and it’s limited only by the ribcage and the hips.Īlthough muscles are more complicated than a skeleton, in case of cats they can be highly simplified. When drawing, pay special attention to the spine. ![]() Tip: if you want to draw cats from imagination, try not to look at the photo after you start sketching - this way you’ll practice using your memory as well. After dozens of such sketches this will become automatic for your hand. The easiest way to learn this method is to look at a photo of a cat and to draw the “skeleton” you can see in its body. But once you have practiced this a few times, it’s all you need to start a drawing of a cat. You need to memorize the proportions and location of the joints along with their limits. Fortunately, we don’t have to learn the shape of every bone and the name of every muscle - we only need to draw what is seen.Ī cat’s skeleton can be simplified to a set of lines. As such, AoE2 on Xbox lets you simply select your desired breakdown of resources, and automatically allocates each new villager appropriately. However, that would be a tremendous pain to manage with a controller. "Our many console-exclusive features, such as new shortcuts and new AI automation, were specifically designed to lower the barrier-of-entry for play and to reduce the APM (actions per minute) required for expert play." Alex Liu, Design Director on AoE2 Manually assigning villagers to gather resources, as well as pulling them aside to construct or repair buildings, is a vital part of learning the game’s flow and strategy. The type of resources you need most over the course of a game varies tremendously, from food and wood in the early stages, to gold and stone later on. One of the biggest challenges that players face is how to allocate their villagers. What does is the AI automation that Liu discussed - and that’s easily the most controversial part of the game’s controller support. But Liu is correct that these enhancements, by themselves, don’t really make the game playable. The minimap even expands so that players can scroll across it quickly. You can construct buildings by selecting a patch of empty ground, or a nearby resource. AoE2 lets players select multiple units by holding down a button to increase the cursor size, or using a hotkey to select similar units (villagers, soldiers, livestock, etc.). In practice, the results are respectable, albeit imperfect. We also needed to create a new set of features, including AI automation, to fundamentally alleviate the need of repetitive unit selection in the first place.” We tuned the crosshair movements, added magnetism, and created new button shortcuts for common selection commands. “Solving this required a combination of efforts across many areas. Continued abuse of our services will cause your IP address to be blocked indefinitely.“Unit selection has always been the most difficult area to adapt to controllers, as the analog sticks lack the speed and precision of a mouse,” said Liu.
